The Karst Conservancy is a national level land trust dedicated to protecting karst. Karst is best described as a limestone region, characterized by sinkholes, underground streams, and caverns. Karst is a common feature across the country as one fifth of the landmass of the United States is karst and 25% of the nation’s drinking water comes from karst aquifers. We’re the only national, nonprofit land conservation organization dedicated specifically to protecting karst lands. The Karst Conservancy is a non-profit, non-political organization. We work for the public benefit through private voluntary action to preserve natural areas in karst regions. We protect land by the outright purchase of important karst properties.
